Why We Do It
We've been so busy crafting books for the past decade that we haven't devoted much time to verbalizing a company philosophy. Still, we have strong feelings about the Ideas to Images Way, and everybody who works with us knows what it means: Doing the absolute best work we can do.
In 1970 Robert Townsend wrote a slim volume called Up the Organization. It was packed with simple yet radical advice for American corporations. Here's a thought from that book:
If you don't do it excellently, don't do it at all. Because if it's not excellent it won't be profitable or fun, and if you're not in business for fun or profit, what the hell are you doing here?
That's all I have to say to the "slap it on the page," "it ain't gonna hang in the Loove," "just get the books in the warehouse" school of project management.
